BLM Boise District Communication Sites
Sawtooth Fencing installed security fencing at six remote mountain top communication towers as the prime contractor on this contract for the BLM. All sites were grounded in compliance with Motorola R56 standards for communication structures. Project challenges included: Poor roads to access work sites, radical weather changes due to mountain top locations, possible fire restrictions during work, difficult ground conditions, and high resistivity to ground as well as the lack of conductive soil requiring complex ground system design. Our design and installation resulted in Sawtooth Fencing receiving a change order to repair vandalism of the grounding system at two sites, enhancing the effectiveness of the system, and designing measures to secure the system from future vandalism.
